just had my 50th birthday last weekend

so i thought it was high time i joined this tribe! actually the "high time" was also during the b-day celebration. :-) that's one thing that's great about being 50. no one questions wheteher you know what you're doing anymore. they all assume either you do, or you're crazy, or if it has always worked for you, it probably will keep working in the future.

plus, i've started saying what there used to be, so i know i've reached "maturity". "see that shopping center across the street? that used to be an orchard, then it used to be a car lot, now it's a shopping center". the more "used to be's" you know, the more you can bother the young generation (who really don't know very much about anything, do they?) :-)

when are everyone else's birthdays? has anyone else just 'crossed the line', like me?

I Love Being 50 Because.....

Being an "Old Head" is cool.
The young folks gives me my props and the elders now speak to me with more respect for my opinion.
I can wear what I want and not feel self conscious about how it looks because I know who I am.
I can always blame it on "Menopause"!
Being a matriarch is the best!
Sex is better.
Periods are lesser.
I get better Birthday presents.
Most of all but certainly far from least, I'm happy because I'm still here, Oh, but for the grace of God! I'm happy that I'm enjoying God's favor.

I've started a new tribe to discuss some of the enigmas in our past. News items that are bizarre and for which there are no easy answers. Our covergirl is Patty Hearst because her story is a very weird one. I want to cover people like the Menendex bros,, Sara Jane Moore, Jim Jones and other very wierd examples of wacky human behavior. Please consider joinging. I am trying to get a good group for conversation.

He All!

I want to wish all a happy weekend, and I will meditate and pray that all of us that have family, friends, and loved ones
in the areas that have been hit by Katrina.

It makes me think of all of the things I take for granted.
As I sit here thinking of BB Que and Drinks I look at TV and Get sad. I will be retiring in 3 months, and while I am happy about that, I feel sad for people that will never get to be able to retire.

We must send energy and continious prayers.

secrets to staying young

This is what i'm practicing these days, besides loving you guys...thats the real medicine! Your love, miss it greatly...
<br>
<br>There are only four secrets to staying young, being happy, and achieving success:
<br>1) You have to laugh and find humor every day.
<br>
<br>2) You've got to have a dream. When you lose your dreams, you die. We have so many people walking around who are dead and don't even know it!
<br>
<br>3) There is a huge difference between growing older and growing up. If you are nineteen years old and lie in bed for one full year and don't do one productive thing, you will turn twenty years old. If I am eighty-seven years old and stay in bed for a year and never do anything I will turn eighty-eight. Anybody can grow older. That doesn't take any talent or ability. The idea is to grow up by always finding the opportunity in change.
<br>
<br>4) Have no regrets. The elderly usually don't have regrets for what we did, but rather for things we did not do. The only people who fear death are those with regrets."
